Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there and shoutout to everyone who showed up to run or volunteer at one of the 40 ultramarathons held in the U.S. and Canada this weekend.
We kick off the Ultra Weekend Recap in Dayton, Wyoming for the wild and scenic Bighorn Trail Runs (100-mile, 52-mile, and 32-mile distances). In the classic 100-mile race, 195 runners crossed the finish line in under the 35-hour cutoff. Top honors went to Anthony Lee who won in 21:36:37. Charlie Michaletz finished in second (21:48:11) and Andrew Pavek placed third (21:53:56). In the women’s race, all three podium finishers cracked the sub-24-hour mark lead by Charissa Kenny in first (23:35:45), Christina Richards in second (23:42:51), and Kallie Smith in third (23:56:58). Next, we head across the border to Niagara on the Lake, Ontario for the flat and fast Niagara Ultra (80k and 50k races). In the 80k race, Tanya Porcellato ran the third fastest women’s course time ever to win in 6:31:36 and finish second overall. Debbie Callaghan placed second (8:15:38), and Lorraine Doucet claimed third (8:26:45). In the men’s contest, Dylan Hayes earned the victory in 6:17:39, followed by Ben Millburn in second (7:11:44), and Kevin De Corte in third (7:39:55).
Dropping down to the 50k distance, the top three male runners all finished within 34 seconds of one another. First place went to Alon Gewer in 3:48:13, followed by Mark Mcleod in second (3:48:18), and Juan Pulido in third (3:48:47). On the women’s side, Neela D’Souza was victorious in 4:10:30 (seventh overall), Mayra Petit finished second (4:24:48 and tenth overall), and Bethany Stephens rounded out the podium in third (4:30:57). Switching gears, we head indoors to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for Six Days in the Dome, where races began on Thursday, June 13, and will continue through Sunday, June 23. This year’s event featured a variety of race distances with runners chasing personal bests in the new 10-day race, a 24-hour invitational, and 12, 24, 48, 72, and 144-hour races. Looking at the 24-hour invitation race, results show that Zach Bitter completed 100 miles in 11:51:22, the fourth fastest American 100-mile time and 15th quickest in the world. Top 24-hour female performances included Jenny Hoffman (147.76 miles and second overall), Neringa Kaulinaite (141.97 miles and fourth overall), and Gina Slaby (125.65 miles and eighth overall). All three women achieved the 125-mile minimum qualifying mark for the 2025 USA National Team. Top male honors went to Chris Roberts (149.61 miles), Don Reichelt (144.63 miles), and Pat Hasler (134.46 miles). Both Roberts and Reichelt achieved their 2025 USA National Team standard by running over 140 miles. Full results of all the events here.
