February kicked off with several great performances from around the country. We have results from North Carolina, Texas and Arizona, with more coming in. Please leave a note in the comments and let us know how you did at your event this weekend! Now onto the Ultra Weekend Recap.

The 34th annual, 40-mile Uwharrie Mountain Run took place Saturday in Ophir, North Carolina. Max Tiemann took home the win in a blistering 5:56:57—the third-fastest time in race history and only the fourth runner to ever go sub-6. Darrin Mann placed second in 7:00:33, and Parker Mitchell (7:05:35) took third. In the women’s race, Grace McDermott opened up a gap on the field in the first half of the race and held on for the victory in a time of 8:02:16. Stacy McMurtrey finished second in 8:45:46, and Danielle Omori rounded out the podium in 10:13:45. Full results here.

Down in Huntsville, Texas, extreme rain and mud made for adventurous conditions at the Rocky Raccoon 100 and 100k races. In the 100-mile race, Lindsey Dwyer won in 18:55:35, Jaclyn Foroughi claimed second in 19:45:01, and Tatiana Rypinski finished third in 20:31:58. On the men’s side, Terry Palmer got the victory in 16:57:30, Peter Polito finished second in 17:25:26, and Russ Ford (18:15:33) came in third.

In the accompanying 100k distance, Jessa Victor lived up to her name winning the race outright in 10:44:20—the fourth-fastest time in the race’s history. Second place female went to Jessica Jacobs in 13:06:50, and Meg Hall (14:06:34) took third. In the men’s race, Isaac Sanderson earned top honors in 10:50:25, followed by Travis Prater (11:06:00) and Mark Wallace (11:41:42). Full results here.

Heading over Cave Creek, Arizona, the Elephant Mountain 50-mile and 50k races also took place on Saturday. In the 50-mile event, Cordis Hall set a new course record in 7:44:34. Nick Coury took second in 8:23:08, and Terin Devoto Noonan (9:53:44) placed third. In the women’s race, 19-year-old Bailey Lange won in 10:40:53, with Julie Schmal (11:32:23) and Sara Nilsson (12:04:32) rounding out the podium.

In the 50k distance, Kelly Cockrell claimed victory in 5:46:38, followed by Rachel Rooks (6:06:44) and Roxanne Carr (6:27:23). On the men’s side, Joe Corcione won in 4:36:44, Grant Farrell finished second (4:51:54), and Brennan Burns (5:03:46) took third. Full results here.

Congratulations to everyone who toed the line this weekend and don’t forget to leave a note in the comments to tell us how your race went!

Once living the Jimmy Buffett lifestyle, working on fishing boats and owning only a single pair of flip flops, he now has way too many running shoes in his closet and never hears the end of it from his loving wife. He is on a constant quest to find the best happy hours, likes to complain when it’s cold outside, and one day hopes to travel the country writing reviews on chicken wings.
