Trail Verbier St Bernard By UTMB

The race starts from the centre of the resort. Then, after a first climb towards Pierre Avoi, well known for its panoramic picture-postcard views, the route takes a splendid hillside path with great views on the Combin and Mt Blanc massif. It continues to the Cabane Mont-Fort and then follows a section of the charming Bisse du Levron irrigation channel. The Verbier X-Plore then joins the other races’ route and finishes by crossing Verbier.

If you don't like technical and mountainous trails, this one is not for you, and you should rather consider X-Traversée or Verbier X-plore. The start will be given above the village of Bruson, which you will reach by cable car from Le Châble. The mountainous single track is winding along the ridge with awesome views on the Grand Combin and Mt Blanc. A small technical trail along the ridge will lead you to the top of Mt Rogneux, the highest point of the race at 3084m. Then you go down, passing by several mountain lakes before reaching the Panossière area, with its suspension bridge and its glacier. You’ll be very close to the Grd Combin, standing above you at 4314m. At the end of the race, unlike other races, you will avoid the famous wall, to climb directly to Verbier along a less steep trail.

The start is in La Fouly, where you’ll immediately be in an alpine environment passing by the Fenêtre Lakes and the pass. It’s the first one of this 5 pass race. A short passage to Italy before reaching the historical pass of Grand St Bernard, famous for its hospice and its rescue dogs. Then it’s a succession of passes, leading you to the Col des Avouillons, gate to the Panossière area its glacier and its suspension bridge. You’ll be very close to the Grd Combin, standing above you at 4314m. After this amazing place you will still have to climb the famous 1200m wall before going eventually down to Verbier.

Starting at 10 p.m. from Verbier, a first ascent and a traverse along the ridge above the illuminated resort. Then you reach the famous village of Champex and its lake, passing by several typical Swiss villages. A long climb to the Orny hut awaits you. You will be in a very alpine environment, next to the first glacier. Then you go down to La Fouly before climbing up through alpine pastures and along the lakes of Fenêtre and the pass. A short passage to Italy before reaching the historical pass of Grand St Bernard, famous for its hospice and its rescue dogs. Then you go back in the direction of Verbier through several passes and eventually passing by the glacier area of Panossière and its suspension bridge. You’ll be very close to the Grd Combin, standing above you at 4314m. After this amazing place you will still have to climb the famous 1200m wall before going finally down to Verbier.
