The Fools' Ultra: Revenge of Champy

September 15th 2026
Crown Point, NY
50 Miles | 100 Miles | 200 Miles | 420 Miles

Welcome to the Clown show. If you are here, it is because you are a little bit odd.  The good news is that we welcome that in this exclusive club of the foolish.

This race was the brainchild of two ultrarunners during COVID, and after some deliberation it was started along the banks of Niagara Falls in 2023.

Originally 409* miles the course has been refined to a cool 420ish. With only a handful of starters years one and two, this race is not for the weak of feet.

Luckily there are four distances to pick from, all with amazing locations to start.

420 racers will start with their back to Niagara Falls (any closer and you'll need a barrel)

226 racers will start along Lake Ontario

100ish racers will start with their feet touching Cranberry Lake

50 racers will start in the shadow of the Olympic ski jumpers in Lake Placid

All racers will cross the ADK mountains following the same route finishing near the home of Champy the Lake Monster.  Any racer who can capture Champy gets a free race for life.

Regardless of distance, racers will traverse on foot across the state on a designated route until they reach and touch the Samuel Champlain statue near Port Henry, NY.  There will be two categories of racers for each distance.

1. Un-Afraid: self supported
2. Afraid: crewed racer

The race dates for each event are:

420: 15-27 September 2025; 305 hours finish is 23:59 27 September

226: 20-27 September 2025; 168 hours finish is 0700

100ish: 25-27 September 2025; 48 hours finish is 0700

50: 26-27 September; 24 hours finish is 0700

All racers start at 0700 and end on 27 Sept

All self-supported racers will park at a designated place near the finish and take a bus to the start.

For the 420 racers, the bus ride will depart at 0700 EDT on 14 September with a stop for lunch in Sackett's Harbor and a stay in Niagara Falls overnight.

For the 226 racers, the bus will depart at 0700 on 19 September with a stop for lunch in Sackett's Harbor and a stay in Watertown overnight.

For the 100 racers, the bus will depart at 0430 on 25 September with a breakfast bag provider at the start.

For the 50 racers, the bus will department at 0530 on 26 September with a snack bag provided at the start.

All Afraid race crews will meet at the start.
