The Tarheel Ultra is a 378 mile, point-to-point, multi-day run challenge.  The challenge begins with a 22 mile beach run at Corolla Beach up to the Virginia border where you will turn around and run south along the coast of the Outer Banks. Tarheel Ultra keeps you as close to the coast as is possible until you reach your final destination at the South Carolina state line in Calabash, NC.

Despite the complete lack of resources, harrowing traffic, and sleep deprivation one is likely to encounter on such an adventure, you will have the opportunity to experience the entire Outer Banks, ferry rides, Ocracoke Island, seashore lighthouses and other historic novelties. 
 
Currently, only 30 total runners will be accepted to participate in the Tarheel Ultra challenge. We will be accepting 15 screwed and 15 crewed runners. Tarheel Ultra veterans will be given time to pre-register for the event before registration is open to the public.
