The Shawnee Hills 100 100Mi, 100K and 50K are simultaneous trail races that will be held across the scenic Shawnee National Forest in Southern IL. THE COURSE is a combination of 80% single track trail, all dirt with some fire roads and to keep you present there are enough rocks, roots and creek crossings. Distance: 100 Mile Run (3 x 30 mile loop + 10 mile out and back) 100K Run (2 x 30 mile loop) 50K Run (1 loop) Elevation Gain Per Loop is approx. 3200 feet and Elevation Loss Per Loop is approx. 3200 feet The runners will get to explore Jackson Hollow, Belle Smith Springs, and the Bay Creek Reservoir and several waterfalls along the course including Pakentuck Falls (the tallest free-falling waterfall in Illinois), Jackson Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Cedar Falls along with some inspiring views from Salomon's Ridge.
