The Red River Gorge Ultra is the original, premier ultra in eastern Kentucky in recent years. Since 2015 it has been the pinnacle of ultra running in central Appalachia and Kentucky's ancient Red River Gorge.

The 50K course is all on the trails and is almost 100% single track except for a few miles long Tunnel Ridge Road early in the morning to take you out to Auxier Ridge: the prettiest view in THE RED
The 25K course, mile for mile, is arguably much harder than the 50K. With all of the ups and downs with none of the level ridgelines of the 50K, the RRG 25K is truly beautifully brutal.
