Mad Trapper Backyard Ultra

Inspired by Lazarus Lake's "Big Dog Backyard Ultra", the Mad Trapper is producing a near perfect duplication of this event.

The concept is that every hour, on the hour, racers toe the start line to a 4.16667 mile (6.71km) trail loop.

Racers are welcome to approach the start line as many times as their mind and body will allow.

The race does not end until THERE IS ONLY ONE.

Meaning, the last lap of the race is run by one solo runner. If that individual can complete the lap in less than the 1 hour cutoff, then he/she is deemed "the only one", the winner, the lone finisher.

Every other participant in the race is "awarded" a DNF!

This format is the perfect first ultra for many races as they are never more than a couple of miles from "home", they can set the goal they want to accomplish. Whether it be 50km, 50 miles, 100 miles or 3 days straight!

Which also makes this format perfect for experienced ultra runners who want to take on the toughest challenge of their lives... competing in a race with no end!
