Left Nut 50

Seriously? This is a real race?

Yup. Seriously. People need qualifying times for 2026 race signups so here is your last chance in New England!

Race Details

1) The Left Nut 50 used to be a "Fat Ass" race that I held for friends every year.  It is being resurrected as a quas-Fat Ass for folks who need a last chance qualifier for 2026 ultramarathons. "Fat Ass" races generally follow the ethos of "No Fees, No Awards, No Aid, No Wimps." I am making a few small exceptions for this year's version in that I will provide some general aid but you should definitely bring your own as well unless you love to eat Swedish fish, PBR, and Fritos.  Also, I am asking for a small beer donation or you can just pay the same price as a small beer donation. Or you can not pay anything and that's fine too.

2) This is a loop course and it follows the world famous Anchor Down Ultra course.   The loop is 2.45 miles long.  It is about 1 mile of trail and 1.45 miles of path. There is a total gain of 728’ in the 50k distance and 1,120 feet for the 50m. It could be muddy, snowy, icy, dry, or combinations of everything. Directions to the start will be sent to all registrants.

3) A 50k on this course is 13 loops and a 50m is 20 loops (plus a 1 mile out and back to start).

4) The race starts at 5:30am and goes until dark on December 13th, 2025. If you like math, that means you have at least 13 hours to do a 50k (25:10 pace) or 50m (15:36 pace).

5) There are no aid stations but runners can just leave coolers/drop bags at the start/finish or stop at their cars to refuel on each loop.  The parking lot abuts the course so whatever works best for you works for me. I will also have some food and drinks available for everyone (see #1 above).
