Last Wolf Howling
Course & Format
2 miles of wooded, mostly shaded and flat, double track trail. Course design is a double lollipop, with each end extending from the central start and finish area. Exact course route will not be disclosed until race week but will be very clearly marked and more photos and elevation details will come shortly. Elevation change is very minimal.
Runners will run the 2.08 mile course once each 30 minutes. 24 hours will equal 100 miles. The start of each loop will begin at the top and bottom of every hour. You must be in the corral at the start of the course and finish the course before the end of the 30 min time limit.
Runners will start and finish each loop every 30 minutes until they are unable to complete the course within the time limit or decide that they are done running. The race continues until there is only one person able to complete a solo lap.
A special feature I am including at this race will allow the last person standing to continue running solo (if all other runners have dropped) to achieve 100 miles.
Results & Awards
Although, official Last Man Standing events have only 1 finisher with all others being DNF, you will receive official ultrasignup results for the mileage you complete. NO DNFs will be issued and runners will be ranked according to mileage attained. Every runner finishing at least 1 2 mi loop will receive a finisher medal. This is an excellent way to get your desired mileage with access to your tent and full aid and amenities every 30 minutes. Any runners attaining 100 miles or more will receive a very nice buckle.
Crew Tents
You will be able to setup tents next to the start area as a place to fuel and rest in between laps. Placement near the Start is First Come and exact map designating setup area will be coming closer to race day. There will be a designated tent for solo/uncrewed runners with space to set up your gear and aid. This is great for minimalists and especially those traveling via plane or not wanting to set a tent area. Crewed runners MUST utilize the tent/camp area. ONLY uncrewed runners will be allowed in the uncrewed tent.
Aid Station
I am seeing several of these events not providing aid for runners. WHY NOT?! There will be a fully stocked aid station and community tent area with tables and chairs and some space for you to setup your personal area. We will serve several meal choices at all times during the race plus a full complement of snacks and beverages. If you are traveling solo/uncrewed and want to rely on the race aid for fueling and rest, then I will have that for you. Crewed runners are also welcome to all aid, but will have their own self-provided tent area to setup.
Crews and family cannot take from the aid station other than for water. However, a meal ticket can be purchased for a minimal price for the day so that they can have access to race meals.
There will be porto potties on site in a convenient area.
