Grayson Highlands is Virginia's third largest state park with just over 4500 acres of land. This beautiful park is located in Grayson County, Southern Virginia. This is the HIGHEST state park in Virginia. They are best known for our beautiful vistas and the wild ponies that live in the highlands. Expect to see spectacular views from all of the trails and overlooks, On a clear day, you can see for 70 miles. The park offers 15 miles of trails which we will run almost ALL of. This is one of the few places left in the south where there are still fir trees. Runners of both races will be running into this. You will see waterfalls, as far as you can see views, streams, rhododendron tunnels, 100+ year old built stone walls, views of two states and more single track than you can imagine! This is the first and only trail race within Grayson Highlands State Park! You will have a view of Mt. Rogers, the HIGHEST point in Virginia. This race runs over Little Pinnacle or Haw Orchard Mountain, at 5,089 ft, making it the HIGHEST race in Virginia! The trails are beautiful but anything but smooth or easy. There is some serious elevation change as well as some VERY rocky/technical sections. The course for both races will have a little bit of everything in it from short steep climbs to smooth rolling hills to flat. This has to be the prettiest run in Virginia!
