The course is a 100% pavement island tour. The course is 100% runnable, with moderate climbing and rolling hills. The 260 miler features a “flatter coastal route” with just under 18,000 feet of climbing and 18,000 of descent starting and ending in Hilo, and the 100 miler is an “easy route” with 9,000 feet of elevation loss and 5,000 feet of gain beginning in Volcano and ending in Kailua – Kona.
Go Big was created for local runners at their request for more long distance races, and is a way for us at Hawaii Mountain Running to help benefit Hawaii Wildlife Fund. This no frills road course will allow you to do a Big Island pilgrimage of extreme or extremely extreme lengths. This race is not for everyone, and we understand if it's not for you. This event is to help us bring in the New Year, fundraise for our favorite non profit on Big Island Hawaii, and to encourage runners to Go Big and try a distance they never before have attempted!
