Cowboy 100

COWBOY 100 HAS ITS OWN SHOW!

With the rapid sellout of the Cowboy 200/100 and the hefty waitlists that followed, we have decided to separate the two races starting in 2027. Note – we are STILL keeping each race capped at a comparably low 150-runners. We do this so we can get to know our runners and give you the attention you deserve. The 2026 waitlist suggests that you will want to get in early!

ADDITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE NEW 100-MILE RACE

NEW BUCKLES FOR THE 100-MILE RACE. The 100-mile race is getting an upgrade in finishers hardware in 2027. The first 5 years had the same buckles, the separation of the two races will bring about a new design.

The 100-mile race will run the second half of the 200 in reverse – starting in Valentine and ending in Atkinson! Everyone gets to run the big bridge near sunup!

More aid for the 100-milers! PLANNED full aid in Arabia, Wood Lake, Johnstown, Ainsworth, Long Pine, Bassett, and Stuart. This drops the average distance between aid to around 14-miles, compared to 20-miles when ran in combination with the 200-mile race.

Since this is technically a new course, the course records for the original Cowboy 100 will not transfer over.

COURSE

Runners will travel from Valentine to Atkinson on the Cowboy Trail, an old “rail-trail” consisting of crushed limestone trails (off-limits to automobiles). During their epic 100-mile adventure, runners will be immersed in nature and experience the beauty and solitude of the Nebraska back-country.
This truly is a beautiful trek through America’s heartland.

The Cowboy Trail is non-technical, 100% runnable, and extraordinarily flat, making it perfect for the first time 100-miler, or for those seeking a PR.

The exact route of the Cowboy 100 is subject to change with route/trail closures and maintenance.
