This is a beautiful trail run with awesome views of the surrounding mountains, the Spokane River, downtown Spokane, the CCC Suspension Bridge rebuilt in 1998, and haystack rocks nearby. Runners will cover a varied terrain and trail. There are some short hills, rocks to tumble on, forest air to breath, and even a little open prairie. The course includes single and double track, forest service roads, and even a little gravel and pavement thrown in. The course is two loops. The initial 22-mile loop includes a short climb to Pine Bluff, with an aid station at mile 11. After mile 11 runners will follow the river before returning to the S/F. Then runners follow the same route they started out on, before crossing down the bluff to hook up with the trail that takes them to the finish at 31.13 miles. Drop bags will be taken to the 11 mile aid station on Carlson Road. Drop bags are also possible at the S/F (mile 22). We hope trail runners will come to a low key, family friendly, fall run in Spokane. There is easy access to I-90 and the city of Spokane. Most important, it is an opportunity to kick back (or kick something else) and have a little fun doing what we all love to do; RUN TRAILS, and of course, eat homemade chocolate chip cookies!
