Since the start of the millennium, racers have come to the Canadian Rockies to cheat Death in one of the world's toughest ultramarathons. The 118km course begins and ends on a 4200-foot plateau, passes over three mountain summits, and not only includes over 17,000 feet of elevation gain, but a major river crossing at the spectacular Hell's Gate canyon at the confluence of the Smoky and Sulphur Rivers. Each year, extreme athletes push themselves to the limits of their endurance against the breathtaking background of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Well-trained and totally committed, they battle heat, cold, altitude, and their own demons. Finishing is the prize and the bragging rights are priceless.

We are proud to announce that Death Race is a Western States Qualifier; one of the few in Canada.

If the full 118km isn't quite your jam, we offer the Near Death Marathon (NDM) which is 42K of trails to test your grit and determination. You'll have 9.5 hours to complete the NDM.

We also have the Kids Death Race (KDR) which has become a family classic on the Sunday of the event weekend. After the 118K and NDM finishers cross the finish line stick around in the afternoon to see 200+ kids show their grit on the 6km course.
