If you thought that running trails in North East Florida meant that you’d be racing on flat, sandy courses, you’ve never run Pioneer Trail in Jennings State Forest! This year, you’ve got the once in a lifetime chance to race on one of the most challenging trails in Florida in the Blaze Pioneer 15/30/50k Trail Race through scenic ravines along North Fork Black Creek less than 45 minutes from downtown Jacksonville.

The Pioneer Trail is new to the scene, with the first three sections of the trail established in 2019 by a pair of seasoned Appalachian Trail hikers who saw the awesome potential of a landscape featuring constant elevation changes, beautiful bluffs above Black Creek, hollows, three waterfalls, and much more that make a course that will challenge runners of all abilities. The course is primarily single track plotting you through the slope forests, flatwoods, seepage slopes, dome swamps, blackwater and seepage streams, and you’ll never forget the first time you climb Mt. Reagan. Pioneer Trail is primarily covered offering about 90% shade along the length of the trail.
