Black Hills Backyard Ultra

We officially have a permit for the first ever Black Hills Backyard Ultra!! This event will begin on the morning of Saturday, Sept 12th and continue until there is just one runner left standing!  

The format of a backyard is all runners begin a loop at the top of each hour. As long as they finish within the one-hour cutoff time and are back in the starting corral by the top of the next hour, they are all tied for first (and last) place! 

This continues until there is only one runner left that has completed one more loop than anyone else, at which point the race is over. The distance comes from the fact that in 24 hours you’d cover exactly 100 miles.

Location: Big Hill Trailhead

Course: 4.1666 mile loop including parts of Loop A & Loop D. 

385 feet of elevation gain per loop
