Bad Ass Backyard Ultra

This backyard ultra takes place at Dry Creek Parkway, in Rio Linda, California (northern Sacramento).

In the traditional style, runners will have one hour to complete each 4.17 mile loop. Each new yard/loop will begin every hour, on the hour. If a runner is not in the start corral, ready to begin the next yard, on the hour mark, they're out. The runner who completes the most yards wins.

We're now offering a 12-hour "mini" backyard. This is great for anyone who's looking to run anywhere from 4.17 up to 50 miles and gets you in the door at a lower price point.

B.A.B.U. is an affiliated Backyard event. This means that as a runner of this event you will be eligible to earn a spot on a National Team for the Satellite Team Championships and the World Individual Championships at Big’s Backyard in Tennessee! You can find our event listed on BackyardUltra.com.

History: B.A.B.U. was originally created in 2023 as a fatass (unofficial event). In 2024 it was made an official event as a collaboration between Skybreaker Racing and Auburn Area Trail Runners. In 2025, while the event was still put on by the same organizers, through partnership, BABU fell under the Singletrack Running umbrella. Since then, BABU is back under the Skybreaker Racing name.
