Ancient Oaks

This is a no-fee, invitation-only 100-mile race located in Titusville, Florida.  Visit the race website for information on how to obtain an Invitation To Run.  The course consists of 29 loops of a beautiful 3.46-mile loop consisting mostly of single track and narrow double track trail run through the Enchanted Forest Nature Sanctuary. The course is about 70% shaded. The trails are not completely flat, but there are no big hills. There are a few roots, mostly on the Magnolia Loop (back loop), but the entire course is runnable, with the possible exception of the 10 or so steps up Mount Mahoney after crossing the bridge over the drainage canal. There are no sections that are steep or very technical. If you want to try your first 100, this may be the course for you, though it is a little more challenging than it first appears.  The Florida weather can also be a factor, although it's usually reasonably nice in December.  More information can be found at the race website www.ancientoaks100.com .
