Backyard ultras are mentally and physically demanding, requiring runners to pace themselves and deal with fatigue and sleep deprivation. They are known for their unique and challenging nature, with runners pushing their limits to stay in the race as long as possible.

The Paradise Backyard Ultra will take place at Paradise Park. Participants run a looped course, running out the T-rail and then looping around Octogan Pond for a distance of 6.71 kilometers.

This type of race can last for up to or even beyond 24 hours. Each loop must be completed within an hour. After each loop, all runners start together for the next loop, and the process repeats. The key challenge is to complete each loop within the time limit. If you finish a loop early, you have the remaining time to rest or prepare for the next loop.

If a runner fails to complete a loop within the designated time, they are eliminated from the race. This continues until only one runner remains who can complete loops within the time limit.

The last person standing, who completes the most loops within the time frame and is the only one left in the race, is declared the winner.
