Maria (the namesake of the Miles for Maria series) was diagnosed with Bosch-Boonstra-Schaaf Optic Atrophy Syndrome, a genetic disorder that is very rare. So rare, in fact, that Maria is the 47th known case. (Hence the 47K). ALL net proceeds of this event will go to help fund a BBSOAS conference in Houston in April. The conference has a fundraising goal of $5,000 so all families affected by BBSOAS will not have to pay for the conference.

The course is a .65 mile loop around "Maria's Trail". It is super flat and non-technical. 45 laps will be the distance to make 47K, and we will give awards to the top 3 fastest males and top 3 fastest females. The course can only support 75 runners max, and we are hoping for another sell out!  All runners will get a cool shirt and dogtag finisher medal.
