The first weekend of November saw an impressive 65 ultramarathons take place across North America. In this week’s Ultra Weekend Recap, we hit the trails in California, Virginia, Texas and Oregon. Let’s see who came out on top.
We begin in Granite Bay, California, for the 23rd annual Rio Del Lago 100 Mile Endurance Run (100-mile and 50k races). Along with Pinhoti 100, Rio Del Lago presented runners with their last opportunities to earn a qualifier into the 2025 Western States 100 lottery. This year’s 100-mile event saw 316 starters, with course records falling in both the men’s and women’s races. Tyler Andree crossed the finish line first overall in 14:54:18, smashing the previous men’s CR by over 37 minutes and becoming the first person in the race’s 23-year history to crack the sub-15-hour barrier. Second place male went to Kyle Roberts (16:41:14), and Dennis Boic (17:29:19) rounded out the podium in third. In the women’s race, Nichole Abma became the fastest female to ever run Rio Del Lago, winning in a new course-record time of 16:26:42 and finishing second overall. Jaclyn Foroughi finished second-place female and eighth overall (18:35:46), and Paula Mcnally (19:16:37) took third. Full results from both races here.
